Description
Nexplanon is a form of birth control that is implanted under the skin of the inner upper arm. Nexplanon is long-acting and is able to last for up to three years. This implanted device continuously releases small amounts of the progestin, a steroid hormone and a form of progesterone, a female hormone. Nexplanon prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation, making the cervical mucus thicker, and altering the endometrium.
